SIGHT TESTS

Our Eye Tests comprise of a Comprehensive and Thorough Examination of the Eyes and the Health of the Patient. We use the Latest Technology that provides more accurate results than traditional techniques. We include many Additional Tests at no charge for which we feel are necessary in providing the most comprehensive eye test. 
Our appointments last 45 Minutes.

- Eye History- 
Personalised history is asked to provide an insight into your health. 
- Muscle Check- 
To evaluate how well your eyes work together. 
- Health Check- 
Examining by a series of questions and ophthalmic techniques such as Ophthalmoscopy to establish if there are any health issues, and how they may affect your vision; such as a Cataract. 
- Prescription Check- 
Determine the refractive error of your eye using a technique called Retinoscopy, followed by presenting a range of carefully tailored lenses for your eyes only.
- Slit Lamp Examination- 
Examing the front surfaces of your eyes in detail using a Specialist Microscope to identify and rule out any infections, eyelid problems and most commonly Dry  Eye Syndrome
- Visual Field Test- 
Assesses your peripheral vision which is vital for driving, and can also aid in the diagnosis of neurological problems within the brain and/ or nerve damage.

* EXTRA TESTS *

- Retinal Imaging- We take a photograph of the back of the eye (Retina) which enables us to closely examine the health of the vessels that supply the eye, the Optic Disc where the vessels come together and the Macula (which has a high density of cone cells for Colour Vision) In addition to this we can also detect conditions such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol.

- Glaucoma Risk Assessment- We have designed a simple questionnaire that we go through together to ascertain your risk to Glaucoma. In addition we use the Latest Technology to measure the Pressure within your eye on every patient. This is a vital test in detecting Glaucoma.

Remember if you fall under any of the following categories, you are entitled to a FREE NHS SIGHT TEST if
  • you’re under 16
  • you’re under 19 and in full-time education
  • you’re 60 or over
  • you’re registered as blind or partially sighted
  • you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma
  • you’re 40 or over, and your mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter has been diagnosed with glaucoma
  • you’ve been advised by an ophthalmologist (eye doctor) that you’re at risk of glaucoma
  • you’re a prisoner on leave from prison
You are also entitled to a free NHS sight test if you (or your partner) are receiving the following benefits or credits:
  • Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • You are named on, or entitled to, an NHS tax credit exemption certificate
  • You are named on a valid HC2 or HC3 certificate
