NHS or Private Eyecare ? Which is better for me? Private Eye Care You are entitled to a free NHS sight test if you :
There are better and more technically advanced testing methods available to you, through our private Eye care plans, iProtect ad Enhanced iProtect. |
I get a Free NHS test, so why would I choose to go private?
Thanks to investment in new technology, the standard of eyecare we can offer is now better than ever! Our latest equipment uses advanced technology you would find in a hospital after being referred by your normal Optician. It can detect abnormalities up to five years earlier than a traditional eye test. Unfortunately, the funding we receive from the NHS simple doesn't cover the cost of providing these advanced screening techniques and lifetime guarantees. Our 3D OCT scan helps us to identify problems at the earliest possible stage, almost 5 years in advance. We can then make sure your eyes are monitored properly and you receive the most effective treatment.
Early treatment can prevent further damage to your eyes and preserve the quality of your vision, so you can enjoy a good quality of life. |
Whats the difference between iProtect & Enhanced iProtect?
The iProtect examination is a thorough assessment of the whole eye and it's regular visual function. This is our most popular examination. It is advised for:
- Reassurance your ocular health is well looked after - Preventative Eyecare - If you need an exam more than every 2 years - Longstanding issues not solved by other eye test including dry eye |
The Enhanced IProtect examination is ideal for those that want the most of their examination. It is advised if you have:
- Glaucoma - Macular degeneration or a family history of Macular Degeneration - Complex eye issues - Health conditions that can affect the eyes |

RETINAL PHOTOGRAPHY - we take a digital image of the back of the eye and examine parts of the retina in a way not possible with conventional instruments. Retinal photography gives us the opportunity to detect, view and monitor early signs of any sight-threatening eye conditions OCT 3D SCANS - Ocular Coherence Tomography is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of the eye. Our 3D OCT also captures a digital photograph of the surface of the eye at the same time, and this can then be cross referenced with any areas of concern. It takes 60,000 scans each second! FULL THRESHOLD VISUAL FIELD - Advanced measure of the field vision i.e. how far out you can see. This test includes the DVLA approved Estermann test. Full-threshold testing which can detect even the slightest drop in sensitivity or reach of your visual field.
